In 2006, MOCK Studio President, Gunnar Hand, self-published his thesis on a new utopian vision of the City. Conceptual City Planning uses the ethos of a region to inform its design aesthetic and physical development. By encapsulating the goals of a City within its physical form, an identity is born on a new metropolitan scale.

The thesis is an analysis of past utopian visions of the City that leads to a description of the teleportation city as a model of Conceptual City Planning. The Teleportation City, without the constraints of transportation, illustrates a City of the future that is sustainable, efficient, and symmetrical while simultaneously allowing opportunities for vernacular expressions.
